Vägledning för konsumenter (före detta Hallå konsument) - Engelska

As a consumer, you can receive guidance from us at the Swedish Consumer Agency. We answer questions about purchasing goods and services. Our information service was previously called "Hallå konsument". The information service is a collaboration between several authorities and consumer agencies.

How can you receive guidance?

About our information service to consumers

  • Our advisors can:

    • answer questions about what applies when you have purchased something (for example, regarding complaints and the right of withdrawal)
    • inform you about how to shop in an environmentally sustainable way
    • refer you to ECC Sweden (when you have purchased something from another EU country, Norway, Iceland or the United Kingdom)
    • refer you to other authorities, consumer agencies and municipal consumer guidance.

What we cannot help you with

There are some things our advisors cannot help you with. For example, we cannot:

    • contact companies, act as representatives or mediate between you and a company
    • assess your case, examine documents or interpret contracts
    • provide guidance on questions related to agreements between companies
    • help you with school assignments
    • help you write a complaint to ARN
    • help you write an application to the court.
  • The Swedish Consumer Agency collaborates with several other authorities and consumer agencies regarding our information service for consumers. Among other things, several of these authorities and agencies contribute information to our website.

  • You can receive advice from ECC Sweden if you have made a purchase from another EU country, Norway, Iceland or the United Kingdom. ECC Sweden can also mediate between you and a company if you cannot reach an agreement.

ECC Sweden is part of a network of consumer centres. In some cases, we may share your case with a centre in another country to try to reach a solution.

ECC Sweden is part of the Swedish Consumer Agency and is part-financed by the European Commission.

  • Many municipalities also offer consumer guidance. The municipal advisors can often provide you with more personal support than we can.

  • The Swedish Consumer Agency’s information service to consumers was previously called Hallå konsument. We stopped using the name Hallå Konsument in February 2025, but we continue to offer the same information service as before.
